Phosphocyanide Catalyst (ChicstabLQ-2)
Product Description
Chicstab LQ-2 is a liquid phosphocyanogen catalyst , formulated with 50% active ingredients, boasting exceptional performance in high-activity ring-opening polymerization. Its liquid form ensures ease of use and addition. In the synthesis of polyether polyols, small molecules serve as initiators, enabling direct blocking with ethylene oxide to yield primary hydroxyl groups. The head-tail (H-T) configuration of polyether molecules affords superior selectivity.
Polymers synthesized using phosphorus cyanide catalysts surmount the limitations associated with traditional catalysts like potassium hydroxide. Notably, they exhibit higher relative molecular weight, narrower molecular weight distribution, and reduced unsaturation levels, thus enhancing overall polymer quality.

Guideline for use
- Combine the initiator and catalyst at room temperature, replace with nitrogen, and vacuumize at a specified temperature to remove solvent for 1 hour.
- Raise the temperature to 90°C and introduce monomers for polymerization. Maintain the polymerization temperature at 90°C to 95°C for propylene oxide and 100°C to 105°C for ethylene oxide.
- Suitable initiators include small molecules such as glycerin and propylene glycol, or low molecular weight polyethers like 500 or 1000 molecular weight polyether. For low molecular weight polyethers, prefer those without antioxidants to avoid color alteration.
- After polymerization, untreated crude ether containing KOH can be used to remove potassium ions. Crude ethers are recommended as starters.
- Ensure the water content of the initiator and monomer is below 300ppm, as high water content can impact catalyst activity.
- Initially, use about two thousandths of the catalyst, with three thousandths for the first use, gradually reducing thereafter. The concentration of the catalyst will be marked for accurate measurement.
- Store the catalyst sealed in a desiccator and utilize promptly.
- Catalyst removal methods include neutralization with acid followed by adsorbent treatment, or direct adsorbent treatment. Specific conditions may require individual exploration.
- The catalyst molecular weight is calculated as 500.
These guidelines are crafted to enhance the efficacy and precision of catalyst utilization and polymerization processes.
Shelf life
2 months from the date of production under unopened original packaging.
Storage and Transportation
